- Matt Niskey + Justin Krutine made eagle at the last to shoot 8-under par 64 in winning the Valley of the Eagles September 2-M Scramble;

- Jake Scott, NOPGA and Chris Horne announced The Elyria Open, a one-day tournament to be played Thurs, Oct 15 at Elyria Country Club with a $10K purse for professionals and a separate amateur division;

- NOGA's Patriots Cup Flighted Stableford event at Firestone North on Labor Day Monday was flooded out, with details on a possible reschedule to follow;

- a pair of teams tied at the 2020 NOPGA / NOGA Pro-Officials Tournament at Lakewood Country Club;

- talk about demand, the Senior Chippewa Championship this Wednesday is sold out and then some at 130+ entries;

SEPTEMBER MAINTENANCE

Many courses will begin to aerate their greens in the next couple of weeks. That way, the playing surfaces recover quickly while it's still sunny and warm, before heading into the cooler months. Understand: a week's worth of bounce-filled aggravation now -- albeit in golf prime-time -- is worth it. It's far better to do this work now instead of waiting until very late fall then having bumpy greens for several weeks come next spring...
