NEWS & NOTES:

- the Bridgestone SENIOR PLAYERS Championship announced the 2019 charity dollars raised from the pro-ams and events at Firestone last summer, and it was a nice big number;

- Matt Rutland has been named the new Northern Ohio PGA Director of Competitions;

- Barrington's Todd Casabella earned the top ranking for Northeast Ohio pros on the list of 2019 Golf Digest Best Teachers in Ohio;

- the number of rounds of golf played in October in Greater Cleveland was a flat-out business boom, a solid finish to a solid summer;

- Rosemont Country Club will close its doors as a private club at year's end "barring unforeseen opportunities";
