Ohio Success in USGA Championships

Dublin's Jeg Coughlin III (above) topped the defending champ in the Semis of the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, but lost in the Finals to Brandon Holtz by 3&2 at Troon CC in Scottsdale. Cleveland's Andrew Bailey and Findlay's Tyler Riley also advanced to match play, facing each other in the Round of 64.

At the U.S. Women's Senior Amateur, Canton's Suzi Spotleson reached the Quarterfinals at The Omni Homestead Resort in Virginia after finishing T11 in stroke play qualifying then winning her first three matches.

OGA Two-Man Best Ball Championship

Jon Kaplan + Kasey Nafzger closed with three consecutive birdies to win the state better ball event by one, as David Clancy + Peter Betzold again won Senior title and Jeffrey Knox + Marc Fried took the Super Seniors division. RESULTS >

- Canton's Vaughn Snyder won the Northern Ohio Golf Association's Player of the Year title in a down-to-the-wire race, while Windham's Rob Schustrich comfortably earned another Senior POY title;

- Rick Deichert won the Cleveland Metroparks Golf Player of the Year points race by 10, as the top-3 players earned a spot in the 2026 Cleveland Am and the top-10 earned bonus gift cards;

- The 79th season of the Northern Ohio PGA Section approaches the back nine with five 'majors' remaining on the schedule: Assistants Cup Matches, Mitchell-Haskell Tour Championship, Ohio Cup Matches, Denny Shute Match Play Championship, and the Junior Ohio Cup Matches;

- See the 16 players from the Northern Ohio PGA set to compete in the 29th annual Ohio Cup matches at Wedgewood G&CC in Powell;

- Vaughn Snyder + Dave Oates went low in the ADGA Parke H. Thornton 2-Player Better Ball at Turkeyfoot on Saturday, shooting 10-under par to win by two over Lucas Liberatore + Brett Dubin.;

- In PGA Junior League action, the SOPGA's Team YoYo qualified for the 13U National Championship, while the NOPGA's Team Ohio advanced to the 17U National Championship.
