NEWS & NOTES:
- At her home course of New Albany CC, Kary Hollenbaugh earned medalist honors and a trip to a major championship in U.S. Women's Open Qualifying, while Anna Huang of Canada and Elina Sinz of Katy, TX also advanced;
- Five teams tied for first place in the NOPGA Pro-Pro Better Ball + Match Play Qualifier at Firestone South: Scott Pollack + Nick Paez, Mark Bixler + Garrett Korte, Mitch Camp + Tom Waitrovich, Randy Dietz + Cory Kumpf, and defending champs Sean Kenily + Blake Sattler;
- Dylan Dunn won the Cleveland Metroparks Match Play Championship at Shawnee Hills, outlasting the field over a challenging weekend of weather;
- A full field took on the two NCR courses in four divisions in the season-opening MVG Spring Better Ball, with Brandon J. Johnson + Bryce Haney earning the gross team title;
- All of the Ohio Amateur qualifying tournaments are open for entry across the state, with a deadline of Sunday, May 18 to sign up to try for a state title at Zanesville CC on July 15-18;
- The Akron District Golf Association's Parke H. Thornton 2-Player Better Ball at Turkeyfoot was postponed due to weather, with the hope to reschedule it for later in the year;
- See the four teams of Ohio junior players scheduled to compete this Sunday, May 11th in the Joe Haase Cup, the annual showcase at Firestone CC;
- Opening in late 2025, a brand new Shaker Heights Five Iron Golf location will combine simulators, a miniature golf course, and Detroit Duckpin bowling;
