It was the Chris Okeson Show on Week 2 of the 2014 Chippewa Monday Scratch League.
Okeson was hitting it spot-on all night and made six birdies on his own ball. Partner Rob Schustrich covered Chris’ only bogey of the evening with a par on the last, giving the pair an in-your-face score of 30 on the back nine in the better ball format. They won by a tidy two shot margin.
One of Okeson’s birdies came at the 194-yard par-3 12th, good for one of three skins made on the evening.
Jeff Mallette and Mike Kracker nabbed the other two with birdies on the 15th and 18th, and finished in second place as well.
Dennis Berkheimer chipped in for eagle on the par-5 11th hole, but his skin opportunity was cut with a freakish play from John Kabasky: he flared his second shot toward the left-side weeds but caught the wire from the towers on the way down. With a second chance, Kabasky hit it to three feet and halved the eagle. Ouch.
Players are reminded that new team registrations are still open for two more weeks, and that the $165 league dues must be paid by all players by May 26th.
