On a warm, muggy evening at Pleasant Hills Golf Club in Chardon, defending Cleveland Skins Game champion Steve Blackburn Jr. made a run for the Thompson Cup.
Blackburn Jr. birdied the par-four 1st hole for one skin, then followed it up with a great eagle by flopping in a 30-yard shot from behind trees at the 330-yard par four 7th hole.
The double-skins win moved Junior into third place on the 2016 Leaderboard.
Mike Dota won the other skin on the night with the only birdie on the 560-yard far five 9th hole.
Skins were worth $122 each.
Rob Schustrich won two of the three pin shots in play on the evening. Schustrich earned the pin shot on the 150 yard 3rd hole good for $32, and he also won the Mulligan’s Pin Shot on the 200-yard par three 8th hole good for $48. Nick Anagnost captured the pin shot on the third hole worth $32.
Next week, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game heads to Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville for a 5pm start, in advance of the Cleveland Amateur Championship being played there that weekend.
