The stakes were doubled Thursday at Fowlers Mill, and defending champion Steve Blackburn Jr. made a statement.
Blackburn Jr. birdied five holes in a row (holes 3-7), cancelling out Dave Sotka’s birdie run of four holes in a row.
Blackburn Jr.’s birdie on the par-three 7th hole held up for one of two skins out on the night.
Mark Foss had the other skin with a birdie on the par five 8th hole.
Skins paid a tidy $322 each.
Blackburn Jr. also grabbed the Mulligan’s Pin Shot on the 200-yard 3rd hole good for another $112.
Brian Polick nabbed the other pin shot on the 7th hole worth $84.
Blackburn Jr.’s big night makes him the first player to reach four-figures on the season, and pushes him out to a lead of nearly $500 with 7 weeks left in the season.
