Shayne Bishop played for the first time ever anywhere with Jack Marinelli, and together they blistered the front nine of Chippewa Golf Course on Monday with a 6-under par performance in the scramble format.
John Karamas and Shaun Kloetzer did their best to catch the pair, but they finished just one shot behind with a solid 5-under par 30. Four teams tied for third place at 3-under par.
The victory pushes Bishop into second place on the 2018 Chippewa Scratch League Leaderboard, but it’s a tightly packed race.
Two “scream skins” were won in Week 4: team of Mike Armour and Jason Chadima holed a wedge from 50 feet to make an eagle skin on the first hole; and Bernie Chupek and Chris Helaney made a bomb of a putt on the ninth to turn them into running, yelling maniacs. It was fun to watch.
There was a bit of controversy on the evening as well, as one of the groupings turned in a scorecard that did not have a number posted for either team on the ninth hole. There were also no signatures on that card. One of the players in the foursome was called but did not answer, so those two teams had to be disqualified. Remember, it is every player’s responsibility to check and sign the scorecard at the end of the round to protect the entire field!
