Last Player. Last Swing. Ace Winner!

Cleveland Golf & Travel ShowThe final hour of the final day of the Cleveland Golf and Travel Show always features the Hole In One Contest Finals. Players who made a hole-in-one during the three days of the Show are given a chance to come back and win the big prize, a vacation golf trip to Myrtle Beach courtesy of the Myrtle Beach World Amateur.

In the finale, each player was given five balls to get one close or in.

The early contestants set the closest-to-the-pin distance at 2’7″, then 2’5″.

But midway through the field of 13 eligible contestants, Rocky River’s Chris Horne hit a series of great wedge shots that spun around the hole. His best one finished 5 inches away from the back side of the hole (tracking!), and it looked like the closest-to-the-pin winner had been identified.

That’s until the last contestant of the day hit his last ball of five.

Evan Wolfe hits the shot that finds the bottom of the cup for ace at the 2018 Cleveland Golf Show Hole in One Finals.

Wearing a Caddyshack “Cinderella Story – It’s In the Hole” t-shirt, Evan Wolfe of Conneaut hit a couple of indifferent wedge shots early in his attempt. But he crept each one a bit closer than the last, and on his final ball he hit a one-bounce spin-left-and-in for ace! After the ball disappeared, Wolfe put his arms up in the air as the crowd roared. With a series of high-fives from the audience — and from Horne as well — he took the Myrtle Beach trip in the ultimate dramatic fashion.

(As a consolation prize, Horne won a gift pack from The Fairways at Twin Lakes in Kent that contained golf balls, a hat, tee shirt, glove, towel and a pass for two rounds.)

A photo of each of the 13 Sunday final hole-in-one contestants who participated on Sunday are shown in the gallery below.

Also included in the gallery are local PGA professionals Todd Casabella and Jimmy Hanlin who were the featured speakers on Sunday on the Celebrity Stage. And World Long Drive champ Brian Pavlet also entertained and informed the Cleveland Golf Show crowd about adding some distance.

It was a fun three days in February at the Cleveland Golf Show…
