Expectations are high for Independence and this group of players who return from a solid season in the CVC and through the State tournament. First year coach Ryan MacRaild takes over a very loaded and decorated team in hopes to return them to the State tournament. After 23 years of coaching HS soccer, Coach MacRaild shifts his focus to golf. Looking to better their top 12 finish in the state, low rounds will be the norm for DeCapua, Marcinko and Pillar. With averages in the mid to high 30s, this team has the potential to compete among the best players in Ohio. It will all come down to focus and preparation for the ’22 Blue Devils this year.

With a disappointing performance in the Sectional tournament, they still were able to qualify one player to the Districts. “I have very high hopes for the upcoming season,” coach Dale Lehrke said. “We have a little experience with a mix of newcomers that should help us to perform competitively in our conference this year.”

With the retirement of Coach Chris Juncker following the 2021 season, Edgewood will turn to new Head Coach Jeff Barger to lead the squad this season. Barger will look to bring his success from the baseball diamond, where he serves as Edgewood’s head coach, over to the links. Two returning players will be leading the Warriors this season. “We have two quality guys at the top of our Varsity team that we are expecting big things out of in Jimmy and Mason,” said Barger. “Behind them there is some potential with Sean Steed returning and newcomer Ethan Detrick.”
