The Bay Village squad is returning its top four players from last season. Seniors Zack Rose, Andrew Chesterfield, and Will Clements will be the catalysts of the squad. All three players earned 2nd team GLC honors last season. “They are elite ball strikers,” explained Coach Rick Manderine. “Improved short games can put them in the upper echelon of the area.” Junior Josh Hammond also earned 2nd team GLC honors last season. “He’s been working hard this off season and is ready to make some noise,” said Manderine. The remaining two varsity spots will be highly contested. Potential candidates include seniors Nathan Earl, Nathan Hart, Joey Wagner, and sophomores Ian Williams and Jack Chalmers. Mandarine is looking forward to a competitive season. “The Great Lakes Conference has many high level players. It will be an exciting conference to follow this season.”

Hopes are high in Parma Heights. “For the past two years we have been building toward this moment,” explained coach Mitchell Hartel. “We have improved our overall average score by about 15-20 shots a match. Our expectations have been set very high this year, most especially by our offseason work.” Valley Forge will rely on three juniors: Anthony Donley, who has been playing in many tournaments on the Northern Ohio PGA Junior circuit, as well as Ryan Repko and Stefan Stjepanovic, who are both primed for breakout seasons. “Two years ago, our overall record was 3-13,” said Hartel. “We had a Varsity team of two Sophomores and four Freshmen. For the most part, that group stuck together, and now we are in a position of having one Senior and five Juniors. We are an experienced team who turned that 3-13 record into 9-8. We are so excited to see what we can turn that into this year! Go Forge!”
