LEGT Cancels Hawthorne Valley Event
The top five players on the 2011 Greater Cleveland Skins Game Leaderboard at the completion of play on July 14th (Event #13 at Quail Hollow) will gain exemption into the 54-hole finale of the 2011 Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville, Ohio August 12-14.
Brian Smith of Amherst posted a 3-under par 69 to beat a field of nine players in the Championship Golf Association event played at Bunker Hill Saturday.

This week, he put an exclamation point on his desire to stay in the top spot and win his second Thompson Cup.
Sotka, the 2007 Skins Game champion, double-dipped for both a skin and the Mulligan’s pin shot on Thursday at Chardon Lakes Golf Course, hitting a five iron to eight feet on the long, uphill par-3 fourth hole and making the putt.
Ryan Stefanski of Brecksville, OH won the Lake Erie Golf Tour tournament played at Tam O’ Shanter Golf Course in Canton today.
Stefanski turned at 2-under par then finished strong, making birdies on three of his last four holes to finish at 4-under par 66, good for a three shot victory over Vaughn Snyder and Blake Sattler.
But the big story of the day took place in the Amateur Division, as Matt Heestand of Parma played flawlessly as well — also firing a 4-under par 66 and also winning by three shots — but his round included a HOLE-IN-ONE on the par-3 14th hole!
The Lake Erie Golf Tour has a season-long sponsorship deal with the National Hole In One Association, so Heestand’s ace earns him a cool $5,000 cash prize!
Rick Bryson and Ryan Maxwell edged out a pack of five teams on Monday at the Chippewa Scratch League, posting a strong 6-under par 29 in the scramble format on the front nine to earn their first win of the 2011 season.
Five teams made it to 5-under par to earn a tie for second place, including the team of Mike Armour and Jason Chadima who scored victory last week.
