Greater Cleveland Skins Game Announces 2011 Schedule and Golf Course Roster

Opening day for 21st season of the Greater Cleveland Skins Game will be Thursday, April 21 at Fowlers Mill Golf Club! Defending champion Eddie Neer (left) will lead off the season by hitting the first tee ball at 4:30 p.m.

The Greater Cleveland Skins Game will visit 12 different east-side area golf courses this year. New for 2011: Erie Shores, Hawthorne Valley, Sugar Bush and Punderson State Park golf courses.

Marino Looking to Launch New Pro Golf Mini Tour in Northeast Ohio

As the assistant tournament director for the now-defunct Medalist Tour, Chris Marino spent 2010 watching first hand what concepts worked on that tour and what concepts did not. He had a front line perspective as to what the players appreciated, and what they found lacking.

Taking those lessons to heart, Marino is working to start a new regional professional golf mini-tour series for 2011, something he thinks is needed in Northeast Ohio.

But the big question is whether or not players will ‘forgive and forget’ by choosing to participate in an event series run by a former Medalist Tour staffer, even if his involvement was administrative and not managerial.

CGA to Streamline in 2011

Streamline is the word for 2011! The Championship Golf Association is reducing its tournament schedule in 2011 in order to eliminate many of the conflicts with other tournament dates. With tournaments scheduled no closer than every two weeks, the CGA expects to improve participation and competition.

SCAGA Making Changes for 2011

The Stark County Amateur Golf Association has made several user-friendly changes over the last few years. The biggest change has been the elimination of any membership fee to play in our events: each player pays the tournament entry fee, an optional skins game fee, and the golf course greens/cart fee (most of which have been discounted for our players) — and that’s it!

And there are some additional changes being made to SCAGA in 2011 that will benefit our players further.
