Dave Sotka made his way back on top of the 2011 Greater Cleveland Skins Game Leaderboard, grabbing one of two skins won on the night at Erie Sores Golf Course on Madison.
While storms banged and blew all around the course, there was no rain at Erie Shores and the players went around under ideal conditions.
After a half hour weather delay, the cloudy skies parted, the sun shone and the birdies flew as 17 players made it around Powderhorn Golf Course in Madison on Thursday evening.
Bobby Delcoco from Evansville, Indiana made his visit back to Ohio worthwhile as he took home two skins on the night.
It was “Double Down Thursday” at Tanglewood National Golf Club in Bainbridge (i.e. double the standard entry fees), and it took a senior player to show the youngsters how to step up when the big money is on the line.
Carl “Unc” Quercioli put his fingers into both pots, earning a skin with a birdie on the 400-yard par four 9th hole and the Mulligan’s pin shot on the 238-yard par three 7th hole worth $168. Unc walked away with whopping $409.50 on the night, vaulting him from ‘not on the leaderboard’ into fourth place in the chase for the Thompson Cup!
Under blue skies and dry conditions for the first time this year, twenty five players were able to play under summer rules at Fowlers Mill on Thursday.
And the man at the top of the 2011 leaderboard for the first five weeks of the season reclaimed his spot in a big way.

Nine brave (crazy?) golfers dodged the raindrops and lightning bolts at Powderhorn Golf Course for this Thursday’s skins and pins event.
And one of the brave crazies is the new leader in the race for the Thompson Cup.
The Devlin Course at Quail Hollow Golf Club played tough Thursday evening, with rough as long and as wet as it could be.
But the 22 players who competed still made their share of birdies: only one hole of the nine was left without a birdie.
