Bad Weather Crushes Cleveland Feb Rounds Played, Down 67.5%

The wretched February weather in Cleveland crushed nearly all thoughts about playing golf, and the Golf DataTech Rounds Played Report numbers confirm the ugliness.

After an fantastic January start up 146%, Greater Cleveland’s February rounds were down a whopping 67.5% compared to last year’s play.

February’s terrible results dropped significantly the Cleveland rounds played tally for 2019, as it is now sitting at down 22.8% for the year.

The Cleveland region’s awfulness matched the rest of the country, too. Nationally, February rounds were down 12.1% for the entire USA vs. 2018. Every region but two were down double-digit percentages. Only one region showed a gain, South Central, but that was an anemic 3.5% up.

That makes 2019 rounds played nationally down 5.3% vs. 2018.

March weather seemed a bit better in Northeast Ohio, so next month’s report should be interesting…
