With a packed leaderboard after Saturday’s play, a log jam of players began Sunday with a chance to win the 2025 Shawnee Hills Course Championship.
Luke Liberatore set the tone early on Sunday, posting a 5-under par 66 to set the mark for the rest of the field with a two-day total of 1-under par 141.
Then Chris Okeson and David Swab matched Liberatore in the clubhouse, as both shot a Sunday 70 to finish at 1-under as well.
John Williams followed them with a Sunday 71 to match that 141 mark, and the four finishers watched and hoped for a playoff.
But playing in the final group, first round leader Benjamin Farina decided to shut the door on the tournament, making a 25-foot putt on the 18th hole for birdie to shoot even par 71 for Sunday. Farina’s closing birdie gave him a 2-under par 140 total for the outright win.
As impressive as the closing birdie was the fact that Ben had never played Shawnee Hills before his first round on Saturday.
With their finish, the following non-exempt players qualified from Shawnee Hills for the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship in August: Chris Okeson, John Williams, Robert Schustrich, Fitch Farina, Ryan Wirtz, Cole Wiley, Aryan Ahlawat.
