Three members of the Northern Ohio Professional Golfers Association won individual titles on Wednesday during the final rounds of the 51st Denny Shute Match Play Championships at Portage Country Club.

Jim Troy, an instructor at The Golf Dome, defeated Randy Dietz, an instructor at the Windmill Golf Center to win the Championship Division title in a match that required one playoff hole after the scheduled 36-hole finale.
Troy, of Strongsville, birdied three of the final four holes in regulation to force the playoff on the 407-yard first hole. He won the hole with a par to Dietz’s bogey.
Troy, a five-time NOPGA Player-of-the-Year, won his second Shute Match Play title but his first since 2018.

Gary Rusnak, an instructor at 1899 Golf in Twinsburg, defeated his boss, 1899 Golf Managing Partner Scott Pollack, 1-up for the Senior title in their 18-hole final
Rusnak added his first Shute championship to two earlier wins in NOPGA major events this season with a par on the 232-yard 16th hole that gave him a 1-up advantage in a match in which no one ever had more than two-hole lead and was even for 10 of the 18 holes.

Kyle Buzaki, an assistant professional at Glenmoor Country Club, defeated Chagrin Valley Country Club Assistant Professional, Antonio Bodziony, 4-and-3, in the 36-hole Associate Division final.
Buzaki, making his first appearance in the event, trailed by one after the first 18 holes but went 1-up with a birdie on the 525-yard second hole. He never trailed after that and extended his lead to 3-up by making three birdies in a four-hole stretch – seven through 10 – and parred the next five holes.
