Kumpf + Dietz Battled the Elements to Win at Firestone
AKRON, OH – The Northern Ohio PGA’s 2025 Pro-Pro Premier better ball concluded today at Firestone Country Club, with teams battling not just each other but also a relentless mix of wind, rain, hail, and cold temperatures during the final round on the South Course.
After Round 1 on the North Course, three teams sat atop the leaderboard at 67 (-5): Randy Dietz (Windmill Golf Center) & Cory Kumpf (Brookside Country Club), Tom Waitrovich (PGA Life Member) & Jaysen Hansen (Toledo Country Club), and Joe Borawski & Blake Sattler (both of Brookside Country Club).
Also in striking distance were Mark Scott Jr. (Westwood Country Club) and Jim Troy (The Golf Dome), who opened with a solid 68 (-4).
As conditions worsened in Round 2, Dietz and Kumpf rose above the field with another standout performance, firing a 67 (-3) to finish at 135 (-8) and claim the title.
Defending champions Waitrovich and Hansen, along with Borawski and Sattler, each posted a 71 (+1) in the final round. Scott Jr. and Troy held strong in the elements with a 69 (-1), finishing with a two-day total of 137 (-7), just one shot back of the winners.
The next stop on the Northern Ohio PGA Tournament Schedule is Monday, April 21st at Shady Hollow Country Club for the Pro-Pro Scramble.
