James Volpenhein of Cincinnati successfully defended his Ohio Senior Amateur Championship title today, shooting 66 at the Country Club of the North in Xenia.
Wet conditions forced the cancellation of Tuesday’s first round, turning the championship into an 18-hole Wednesday shootout.
Volpenhein’s round included an eagle at the third, six birdies, and two bogeys. His 6-under par total was good for a two-shot victory over Dave Antill from Dublin.
Volpenhein backed up his victory the Ohio Senior Am last year at Portage Country Club.

In the Super Senior Division for players age 65+, Tim Hickman of Columbus was the only player to break par in the division, posting a 71 to win by one stroke over Terry Tyson of Perrysburg and Dan DeVore from Cincinnati.
