The 3rd Annual Ohio Adaptive Open presented by the John T. Reis Foundation came to a close Sunday afternoon after two perfect days of golf and camaraderie. Thirty-nine adaptive players completed both rounds of the tournament and celebrated all their fellow competitors who took home hardware.

Michael Came entered the final day of the OAO one shot back of the Men’s Overall Division lead. The Chicago native was able to take the lead after starting the day one-under par through his first six holes.
His two birdies on the front would prove to be huge for the final results, as Came would struggle in his final three holes. Michael would ultimately finish one stroke better than the 1st Ohio Adaptive Open Champion, Jarrett Fultz, who made a push with a 72 on Sunday.

Sophia Howard became the first multiple and repeat champion in either the Men and Women Overall Divisions. The Arizona University Adaptive Golf player put up an 80 on Sunday, which was five strokes better than her score on Saturday.
But there was drama right up to the end.
The Women’s Overall title came down to the final hole, as Cassie Sengul played the final hole of the tournament only one shot back of Sophia. The par-4 18th was playing 321 yards on Sunday. Both would hit the green in regulation. Sengul would hit her second shot to 3-feet to put the pressure on Howard, but Sophia would respond like champions do, nailing a 22-foot birdie putt to close the door and win the tournament.
The adaptive golf community continues to grow and gives its competitors a sense of community and belonging that is second to none, and as a first-hand spectator it is an absolute treat to be a part of. The Northern Ohio Golf Association takes great pride in this event and how much it has grown over the first three years. A big thank you to Seneca Golf Course and the Cleveland Metroparks for all of their help with this event.
We look forward to seeing all of the adaptive players on the first weekend of August in 2026.
