Sagamore Hills’ Jimmy Wild shot a Sunday even par 71 to back up his opening round of 4-under par 67, and by one shot that was good enough to hold off a hard-charging Vaughn Snyder of Canton in the main division of the 2025 Turkeyfoot Championships.
Wild was 2-under par on Sunday after both the 10th and 15th holes and held a big lead going into the finish, but made back-to-back bogeys on 16 and 17 to drop back to even par on the day. Snyder turned the front nine at 2-under par 34 in spite of a double-bogey at the par-3 eighth. He then birdied the ‘new’ 10th and 12th holes to get his 2-day total to 4-under par for the tournament, but bogeys at 14 and 16 derailed his run. A birdie at the new par-3 18th finishing hole gave him solo second place, one shot behind Wild.
Finishing in third place in the Championship Division and double-dipping a title in the Senior Division was Fairlawn’s Howard Clendenin, posting the low round of Sunday, a 4-under par 67. In conjunction with his Saturday 73, Clendenin finished at 2-under par 140, a total that was good for a whopping 12-shot victory on the Senior side.
In the Super Senior Division, first-round leader Tom Stack shot a Sunday 79 to go with Saturday’s 76, and that was good for a one-shot win over Brunswick’s Randy Crider.
In the one-day, 18-hole Women’s Championship, Emily Baumgartner and Cari Hetler both shot 79 to share the title.
