After four days of golf, including three competitive days of Match Play, the 102nd WOSGA Women’s Ohio State Amateur Championship came down to one 18 hole match between Anna Ritter and Sabrina Coffman. Both players earned top-5 seeds in the Match Play Bracket after their solid play in the Stroke Play Qualifier on Monday.

Anna Ritter was one of the players to beat from the beginning of the week, finishing solo second in Stroke Play qualifying on Monday. Ritter knew that the rest of the week would be a grind, and she took that seriously as she was the last one on the range each day.
Ritter would enter the Championship Match playing solid golf and would continue that right from the jump on Thursday. The Fighting Illini Women’s Golf Team member jumped out to an early 5-up lead after five holes. Posting a sizzling 34 on the front would put Ritter in prime position to clinch a spot in the USGA’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship later this summer at Bandon Dunes.
Sabrina Coffman would go on to win the 10th hole to cut the lead back to 5, but Ritter proved to be too much as she would close out the Championship Match after 13 holes.

Sabrina Coffman has nothing to hold her head about after a great tournament. The former Cleveland State Lady Viking saw just about every scenario possible throughout the tournament and pushed through with a positive mentality. Coffman will be a player to watch in this tournament for years to come.
The Northern Ohio Golf Association and the Women’s Ohio State Golf Association would like to give a big thank you to the host club of this event, Weymouth Country Club. It was a great four days of golf in Medina.
The next WOSGA event is the Ohio Junior Girls Championship at Marion Country Club on July 13-15.
