Governor’s Office: Fowlers’ Demise Not Certain

Northeast Ohio Golf contacted Governor Ted Strickland’s office today to get comment from the governor on the Ohio EPA’s financing of the Fowlers Mill Golf Course purchase referenced in the story yesterday.

Spokesperson Amanda Wurst replied today, saying discussions about the closing of the golf course may be premature.

“Our understanding is that Ohio EPA has not approved any funding for this project,” said Wurst. “The (Munson) township trustees have submitted an application, but Ohio EPA has not yet reviewed the application. If you have additional questions, please contact Mike Settles with the Ohio EPA.”

We have contacted Mr. Settles and hope to get further details on the status of the grant application soon.
