Some Northeast Ohio players made good this week at U.S. Open Local Qualifying sites other than Cleveland:
– Massillon’s Richie Schembechler made birdie on the first playoff hole at Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club in Powell, OH last Monday to earn one of the spots in the Columbus U.S. Open local qualifier;
– Westlake’s Ted Smith, a former St. Ignatius player, earned a spot at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach FL on Tuesday in the Jacksonville U.S. Open local qualifier;
– Westfield Center’s Parker Hewitt tied for co-medalist but still had to earn his spot in a 7-players-for-3-spots playoff at the Southern Hills Plantation Club local qualifier in Brooksville, FL on Tuesday.
Northeast Ohio Golf will follow all the area players through Sectional Qualifying on June 4th…
