Teams from Ohio competing at the national Doubles Golf Championship at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, FL this week did extremely well, finishing first, first, T2 and fourth.
Two-player scramble teams qualified locally for their state championships (Ohio played at Muirfield Village!), with four separate scratch division winners from each district moving on to nationals.
The national finals competition was 27-holes played over two days in Men, Women, Senior (age 60+), and Mixed Team divisions.

In the Mixed Team event, the husband and wife team of Ben Hogenkamp + Deanna Hogenkamp from Dayton represented Miami Valley Golf well, as they shot 16-under par for the 27 holes to win by a whopping 11 shots. The Wittenberg graduates both played golf for the Tigers from 2011 though 2014. Ben was a former P.J. Boatwright intern with MVG in 2013.

The winners of the Senior Division also represented Ohio. Kirk Geiling + Tom Dinkelacker from the Cincinnati area finished in a tie with the Florida team of Steven Frey + Jacob Matthews. They won the scorecard playoff set up in advance of the event start.
In the Women’s Division, Columbus District Golf Association players Tacy McDonough + Evelyn Johnson finished tied for second place at 2-under par. In the Men’s Division, Northern Ohio Golf Association’s Christopher Brown + Brian Smith shot 11-under par to finish fourth.
