It was a successful season last year for the Chippewa Monday 2-Man Scratch League. The total number of players increased yet again, and the season-long leaderboard race went down to the wire. Congratulations to our 2018 League Champion Mike Simpson!
We can’t wait to kicking off the 2019 Chippewa Scratch League, with the official start coming on Monday, May 6th.
As a warmup to that start date, Chippewa will host two individual 9-hole $20 big skins games on Monday April 22nd and 29th, from 4:30p – 6:00p. These warmup rounds are unofficial and individual, no partner required.
Then on Monday, May 6th, it’s official 2-man team competition, with the results counting toward the 2019 Scratch League Leaderboard. Formats will alternate every week as they have in the past: 2-player scramble, better ball, combined score, shamble, and jumble. Players ages 55+ play the white tee boxes, while all of the younger bucks hit from the back tees. Gives us elder statesmen an equal chance.
Just like last year, players pay a $15 event pot entry fee each week, or they can pay $180/man for the event pot for the entire 18 week season in advance (save $90!). We add together all of the $10 and $15 pot entries collected to determine each week’s pot prize total.
An optional skins game of $10/man per week is also collected at check-in (and carry-overs apply!). All money collected for both pot and skins is paid back out as prizes, with payouts as cash or gift certificates at the player’s choice.
The 9-hole golf+cart fees are $24/man paid weekly, or can be pre-paid in advance for the entire 18 week season at $367 (save $65!).
If you wish to pre-pay both the golf+cart and league pot, the total is $547 for the entire season — which saves you a solid $155. Any and all pre-payment should be made before the start of Week 2; after that, it’s week-to-week only.
Players can compete with the same partner each week, or mix it up and play with different partners all the time. League entry fees are collected individually (not by team) so a player can partner with anyone on any week.
There will be two 3/3/3 Steak Nights in 2019 again — held on Week 10 and Week 18 — as our way of saying thank you to our league players. Delicious steak dinners with all the trimmings will cost just $15 to whomever wants to eat, payable at check-in on steak nights.
The Scratch League tee will be open from 4:30p – 6:00p for the league again this year, so please be on time!
The league will be off for two holidays dates: Memorial Day on Monday, May 27th; and Labor Day on Monday, September 2nd. (See the Tournament Calendar.)
In 2019, the top points earner on the Chippewa Scratch League Leaderboard will see his name will go on the Chippewa Scratch League plaque that will be dedicated and placed in the clubhouse later this year.
We’re excited about the 2019 Scratch League, and we look forward to seeing as many players as possible starting April 22 for warmups then officially on Monday, May 6th!
OPEN BIG SKINS GAME
The Monday Noon Big Skins Game will continue in 2019, too, with the tee open from 12:00a until 12:45p. Noon Skins players must be on time as the entry envelope closes promptly at 12:45 p.m. — no exceptions! Cost for the skins game is $50 for amateurs and $100 for pros. Cost for golf + cart is $35 for ‘play all day’ – which is perfect for the guys who roll right into league night. (If you pre-pay for Scratch League golf+cart, you only owe another $15 for any all-day play!) Come on out for the early Monday Big Skins Game whenever you can.
