The Northern Ohio Golf Association (NOGA) announces its Doubles Golf Series, expanding from one event scheduled in 2025. In 2026, three tournaments will be hosted across Northern Ohio as qualifiers for the NOGA Doubles Golf Championship, which will take place on Wednesday, September 2nd, at StoneWater Golf Club in Highland Heights.
Backed and promoted by Jack Nicklaus, Doubles Golf is a modern re-branding of the Two Person Scramble format in four categories using gross scoring: Men’s, Women’s, Mixed Couples, and Seniors. The overarching goal for Doubles Golf is to get more people of all demographics playing the game of golf.
The NOGA Doubles Golf Qualifying series will kick off on Monday, May 4, at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Norwalk. It will then travel east for a qualifier at Trumbull Country Club on Wednesday, June 10. The Series will conclude on Monday, August 17 at Columbia Hills Golf & Swim Club.
A pre-determined number of teams from each of the four Doubles Golf categories will qualify for the NOGA Doubles Golf Championship. Following the NOGA Doubles Golf Championship, the top two teams (champion and runner-up) in each of the four categories will receive an invitation to the Ohio Doubles Golf State Championship on Saturday, October 10, at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. From there, a national championship is conducted in Florida in November.
Gross scoring will be used to determine qualification for both the NOGA Championships and the State Championship. A concurrent net competition will also be conducted in all three qualifiers, providing additional competitive opportunities for players of all skill levels. All teams will compete in the net division as well and the top teams will be awarded gift certificates to their chosen club.
All Doubles Golf tournaments are open to anyone 25 years of age or older. Grab a partner and come out and enjoy Doubles Golf two person scramble! Registration for all three NOGA qualifiers will open on Wednesday, April 1 @ 7:00 a.m.
