The 3rd Annual Ohio Adaptive Open kicked off on Saturday morning at Seneca Golf Course in Broadview Heights. It was a perfect day for golf, as 42 adaptive golfers came together not only to compete, but for the camaraderie that you can only find in the Adaptive community. Year after year, this event continues to be a staple of the Northern Ohio Golf Association’s tournament schedule.
Ricky Reilly, who is the lone participant in the Short Stature Flight, found something in his game after making the turn. Reilly was able to post a scorching, bogey-free 31 on the back-nine to finish the day with a 3-under par 69. Reilly is coming off a 13th place finish in the event last season, and will look to keep his foot on the gas tomorrow to claim his first OAO Men’s Overall Title.

Right on Ricky’s heels is Lower Limb Impairment Flight member, Michael Came. Michael was the only other player in the field to finish under par on Saturday, and sits just one back of Reilly heading into the final day. The two will play together for the second day in a row.

Cassie Sengul, the 8th ranked Women’s Adaptive golfer in the world, will take a two-stroke lead into Sunday after posting an 83 on Saturday. The Drew University Golf Team member will look to put together a more consistent day tomorrow in hopes of claiming her first Ohio Adaptive Open Women’s Overall Title.
Reigning Champion Sophie Howard will be paired with Cassie tomorrow morning. The Arizona Wildcat Women’s Adaptive Golfer will look to come back from two-strokes down to become the only multiple time champion in either division of the Ohio Adaptive Open.
