Akron’s Kyle Smith holds the lead after Round 1 of the 2025 Stark County Amateur Championship after a 6-under par 66 at Ohio Prestwick Country Club. Smith leads by four shots over Lucas Liberatore of Fairview Park, Caden Scarbrough from North Canton, and Vaughn Snyder of Canton.
In the Senior 50-59 Division, Lawrence Criswell of North Canton shot an opening 68 and leads by one over defending champion Howard Clendenin of Fairlawn.
In Senior 60-69, 2023 champion Tom Laubacher of Aurora leads by one after an even par 72.
In Senior 70+, Aurora’s Fred Miller holds the top spot after a 75.
In the Women’s Championship Division, Emily Liptak of Akron shot an even par 72 to lead by seven, and in the Women’s Senior Division, Janet Shaheen of North Canton and Gail Hackett of Canton are tied at the top at 80.
Round 2 Starting Times are off the first tee on Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m., and go out in order of Women, Seniors 70+, 60-69, 50-59, then the Championship divisions.
