METRO DIVISION
Jay Thammachack of Coventry was the best ever on the links of Sable Creek.
On the day of the Metro Division tournament, Jay fired 36-34 on his way to a two-under-par 70, a new tournament record for the Portage Trail Conference that was previously held by five golfers going to back 2006.
Tammachack not only was the medalist of the event but is the repeat Player of the Year in the Metro Division.
The Cloverleaf Colts won the Metro Division, earning the tournament championship as a follow-up to their undefeated 14-0 record of the regular season.
Medalists for the tournament, following Tammachack included silver medalist Hunter Simmons of Streetsboro.
For Portage County teams in the Metro, in addition to the Rockets’ Timmons, Abbie Retherford, freshman of Ravenna, led the Ravens with a 93 and Spencer Crone was the best on the links for the Field Falcons, firing an 86.
COUNTY DIVISION

For the past 15 years of the Portage Trail Conference, Mogadore and Rootstown have won the championship, shared the championship or occasionally allowed one team to jump over them to the top of the standings.
Often the title comes down to the final tournament with either schools holding the opportunity to win the championship in their shots and putts.
That was not the case this season as the Mogadore Wildcats dominated the conference from beginning to end.
Owning a perfect 10-0 record in conference play, Mogadore continued their outstanding golf at Sable Creek Golf Course for the PTC County Division Championship, topping a consistent Rootstown team by 28 strokes to win the tournament and the ultimate championship.
Mogadore’s Dillon Pendergast, Cory Gasaway, Ben Lansinger and Aaron Morris own the four low scores of the tournament among the top five medalists. Only Mason Bartholomy broke into the Mogadore sweep as the Rootstown Rover took the fifth place medal.
Mogadore’s 327 total included Gasaway’s medalist score of 77, only five-over-par on the tough fairways of Sable Creek.
The junior has been tough to beat this season, usually only bested by senior Ben Lansinger, this season’s County Division Player of the Year who fired an 83 during tournament play on Wednesday.
Pendergast (82) and Morris (85) not only were the play-six-count-four scores for Mogadore but were the low four scores of the County Division tournament.
Chris Mossa, coach of the Wildcats, was voted coach of the year by his peers in the County Division.
The Rovers were the only team with a chance of catching Mogadore but fell short despite a consistent team score that included three scores in the 80s.
