Three teams tied for first place at the Akron District Golf Association’s 2025 4-Player Scramble at Fox Den Golf Course in Stow on Saturday. But each of those three teams arrived at their final score of 18-under par in a decidedly different way.
Jim Cea + Ron Bell + John Kabasky + Dean Maple jumped out to a big lead with a sizzling fast start, making eagle-2 at the first and shooting a smoking 12-under par on the front nine. But they lost momentum on the back side, making pars at three of their last four holes.
Aaron Czetli + Caden Scarbrough + Vaughn Snyder + Mandi Ruminsky were the ‘Par-5 Eagle Machine’ team, making eagle on all four par-5 holes at Fox Den. Against that, they made pars on four holes, three of them par-3 holes.
Thomas Miano + Cody Nickson + Brandon Giaimo + Connor McCaulley had a super slow start, turning the front nine in just 6-under par. From there, they lit up the back nine with a 12-under par 24 that included an eagle-2 at the par-4 finishing hole.
Allen Freeman + Ty Kovach + Jeff Mallette + Shaun Kloetzer finished alone in fourth place to cash at 17-under par, one shot behind. They missed a 6-footer for birdie on the 8th hole that cost them a share of the win.
Lucas Liberatore + Brett Dubin + Daniel Mosher + Rick Deichert made eagle-2 at the first and last holes at Fox Den, cutting the skins pot into “least tied” with two of the winning groups above. That made their two half-skins worth just $10 less than the winning teams’ first place share!
The next event on the 2025 ADGA schedule is the 27-Hole 2-Player Scramble on Saturday, September 13 at Sable Creek Golf Club in Hartville.
