RESULTS: 2025 CMG Bill Barbour Cup

Jimmy Wild and Matt Frey posted an acceptable score in the scramble format, got hot at the end of the better ball segment, then made two early birdies in alternate shot. Count that up, on holes 9 through 14 they made six birdies in a row!

But they gave two of them back with bogeys at 17 and 18, which nets out to a 4-under par total of 67 and a jumble victory at the 2025 Bill Barbour Cup at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville.

On a breezy day with firm, fast conditions and some speedy greens, Wild + Frey made two birdies and a bogey in scramble, then made bogey, par and four consecutive birdies in better ball, and closed with two birdies and two bogeys in alternate shot.

But they weren’t the only team that suffered a bogey at the last hole. Coming in tied for second place just one shot behind the winners were two teams that both made a costly bogey at 18:

Mike Simpson + Phil Bojc made three birdies in scramble, all pars in better ball, then got it to 4-under par after a birdie at 15 in alternate, but gave one back at the last;

Ryan Stefanski + Vaughn Snyder shot 2-under par in scramble, added a birdie at the 12th in the last hole of better ball, then birdied the first hole of alternate shot to get to 4-under par, but also suffered bogey at 18.

The Barbour Cup brings the 2025 Cleveland Metroparks Golf tournament season to a close. Watch for a Player of the Year update in the weeks ahead…
