Perfect weather led to one of the most exciting finishes in Greater Cleveland Women’s Amateur Championship history.
20 players teed it up in the championship division looking to take home the trophy. Sabrina Coffman was looking to be the first repeat winner of this event. After a great morning of golf, four players all finished tied at 3-over par 75.
Coffman, Lizzie Saur, Christina Nagy and Emily Holzopfel all headed back to the first tee for a four-person sudden-death playoff. Sabrina and Lizzie both made par on the first to move on to a second playoff hole. Both drives on number 2 were a bit left, but in the end, Lizzie missed her 10-foot par putt which gave Sabrina an opportunity to tap her par in for the win and a successful title defense.
The Senior Division had some excitement as well, as both Wendy Shick and Insook Kim shot matching 82’s to find themselves in a playoff of their own. Wendy made a par to take home the Senior Division title on the first playoff hole.
