The Northern Ohio Golf Association kicked off the 2025 Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series on Monday at Tippecanoe Country Club with its Four-Ball #1 and Season Long Match Play Qualifier. Thirty Championship Division and twenty-two Senior Division teams competed for seeding in their respective Match Play Brackets.
Griffin Todd playing at his home club with his partner, Garrett Frank of the USGA/Northern Ohio GC, claimed the top spot in the Championship Bracket for the second year in a row. The pairing shot a 5-under par 67, posting just a single bogey on their card.
Two teams tied at the top of the Senior Division on Monday, both posting 2-under 70. Kurt Peterson from Massillon’s Shady Hollow Country Club and Nick Lambos from Canton’s Brookside Country Club, were the leaders in the clubhouse for most of the afternoon. The pairing would post 6 total birdies on the day en route to their T1 finish.
Jeff Thrams of Shady Hollow and Jeff Semple from Firestone Country Club matched the Peterson + Lambos team with six birdies. The pairing started hot, with five of their six birdies coming on the front-nine.
The NOGA Four-Ball #1 also acts as the qualifier for the season-long Four-Ball Match Play Match Championship. Brackets will be set and announced for each division tomorrow, so watch this website then follow along all season long as each rung on the bracket is completed.
The next event on the Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series schedule is the individual Stroke Play #1 + MPQ at Shaker Heights Country Club next Monday, May 19.
