The Northern Ohio Golf Association continued their 2025 Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series on Thursday at The Lake Club in Youngstown, Ohio. Forty-six Championship Division and twenty-two Senior Division players made the trek to The Lake Club to try to move up the standings in the 2025 NOGA Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year races.
Brandon Pluchinsky (pictured above), a member at The Lake Club, took advantage of his familiarity with the course on Thursday. Pluchinsky was able to knock down seven birdies on the day en route to posting a 4-under 66. After a 32 on the front-nine, Brandon was comfortably in the lead and would not give it up the rest of the day. Pluchinsky would finish as one of three players under par on Thursday.
The Senior Division was a battle throughout the day, as one player posted a score to beat and a handful of players did their best to overtake it.
Wadsworth’s Brian Vincelette went out in the first group of the day and posted a 2-over par 72, making birdie at both 9 and 18. Vincelette played in the group along side Akron’s Chris Minear, who finished one shot behind him.
A handful of other Senior players challenged Vincelette’s score throughout the day, including Dave Trier, Mike Belacic, and Lou Boarman. But like Minear, all three players finished at 3-over par, T2, and one shot behind Vincelette.
The next event on the NOGA Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series schedule is the Stroke Play #3 at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Norwalk on August 11.
