The Northern Ohio Golf Association conducted it final Season Long Match Play Qualifier of the season on Monday at Shaker Heights Country Club. Sixty Championship Division and forty Senior Division players competed in the 2025 Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series Stroke Play #1 to battle for a title and the seeding in the brackets.
And a battle it was against the fast greens and tricky hole locations of Shaker Heights Country Club, as 3-over par 74 was the winning score in both divisions.
Daniel Mosher, a Kent State University alumni, posted a 74 on Monday to claim the top spot in the Championship Division. Mosher stated that this was his first tournament win since high school, and it comes at a great time as he will now have home course advantage throughout Season Long Match Play. Four birdies on the day propelled Mosher to a one-stroke victory.
Colin Burns, who was coming off a team runner-up in the CMG 2-Player Scramble at Manakiki this past weekend, knocked down four birdies and an eagle on Monday. Burns would fall just one stroke short of Mosher, but collected a whopping three skins on the day.
Robert Schustrich, defending NOGA Senior Player of the Year, was able to post three birdies which helped him secure home course advantage throughout the Season Long competition. Schustrich overcame a double and four bogeys on his day to come away with a three shot victory in the Senior Division.
Four players tied for second place at 6-over par in the Senior Division: Tom Baugh, Tom Laubacher, Paul Krueger and David Stoverall posted 77.
The next event on the NOGA Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series schedule is the Northeast Ohio Amateur Championship at Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravenna on June 7-9.
