Medina Country Club’s David Laib shot a solid score of 1-under par 71 at The Country Club in Pepper Pike on Monday to win the Northern Ohio Golf Association’s Tournament of Champions, an event with a field made up exclusively of reigning club champions from the NOGA member clubs in the region.
Laib put together four birdies against three bogeys to edge out John Angelo from Signature of Solon, who shot even par. Angelo made three birdies and just one bogey, but suffered a double-bogey at the 13th.
In the Senior Division, Steve Blackburn Jr. of Quail Hollow Country Club made three birdies, two bogeys and a double to put together a round of 1-over par 73, good for a one shot victory over Christopher Chieffo of Youngstown Country Club.
In the Women’s Division, there was another one shot spread between first and second place, as Mary Hird of the Country Club of Hudson topped Abbey Chieffo from Youngstown Country Club.
