Sattler Dominates at Elyria; Rusnak and Waitrovich Share Senior Division Title; Puch Wins Par-3 Contest
Blake Sattler (Brookside Country Club) delivered a commanding performance at the Club Car/Pepsi Stroke Play #2, firing a sizzling 7-under-par 65 at Elyria Country Club. His round included eight birdies, an eagle on the par-5 second hole, and three bogeys on the card. Sattler birdied four of his first five holes (1, 3, 4, 5) with an eagle on 2, and never looked back, claiming a six-shot victory over Dustin Roth (Eagle Creek Golf Club), Jim Troy (The Golf Dome), and Kyle Buzaki (Glenmoor Country Club), who all posted 1-under 71.
In the Senior Division, Gary Rusnak (1899 Golf – Twinsburg) and PGA of America Life Member Tom Waitrovich shared the top spot, each carding a 1-under-par 71. Rusnak made five birdies on the day, while Waitrovich started hot with birdies on his first three holes and added three more to finish with six total.
A special contest was also held, thanks to sponsor Jay Bingham. Players competed in an aggregate par-3 challenge, totaling their scores on all par-3 holes. Joe Puch (Fox Meadow Country Club) emerged victorious in the Par 3 Contest at 2-under-par.
The Northern Ohio PGA tournament schedule continues Tuesday, May 27 at Barrington Golf Club for the Pro-Assistants.
