Three teams tied at the top at Boulder Creek on Saturday in the OHIO.GOLF 2-Player Better Ball.
Nicklaus Pidgeon + Evan Disanto, Mike Simpson + Jimmy Wild, and Rob Schustrich + Nate Matthews all finished at 4-under par 68, sharing the title on a hot and windy day in Streetsboro.
Simpson + Wild raced out to the front nine lead with birdies at 5,6, 8 and 9, then made a birdie at 10 to get to 5-under par for the day and clear of the field by two. But they took a roller-coaster ride from there, making three bogeys and two birdies over their final eight holes, including a critical bogey at the last.
As a consolation for letting the solo victory slip from their grasp, Simpson + Wild earned one of three skins made on the day with their birdie at the eighth.
The rounds for Pidgeon + Disanto and Schustrich + Matthews were identically consistent, as both teams went bogey-free on their day while making two birdies on each side at Boulder Creek.
Nicolas Wendel-Pinyon + Alex Stoneman, both from Northfield, finished alone in fourth place for the final prize payout, and also earned a skin with their birdie at 13.
