Muirfield Village Golf Club’s Andrew Martin defeated Kinsale’s Bob Sowards in a playoff on Monday, hitting an outrageous 3-wood to four feet then making the putt for eagle on the 9th hole of the Rookery Nine at Medallion in the Southern Ohio PGA’s Legacy Championship.
Early in the day, Martin made six birdies and a bogey for 67, then had to wait for a considerable amount of time for the field to finish — including a two hour rain delay right before the final few groups completed their rounds.

Sowards didn’t make it easy on Martin, as the busiest man in Southern Ohio golf went bogey-free to match Martin’s round of 67 and force a playoff.
In that playoff, Sowards nearly made both an albatross and a tying eagle before Martin sealed his win from four feet.
