Rob Wakeling + Joe Nemeth and Matt Mullen + Adam Frey shared second place at 9-under par 61.
But the haul of the day belonged to Noah Bowser + Jake Reifsnyder of Tallmadge. In addition to finishing T4, Bowser made an ace on the team’s 11th hole of the day, the uphill par-3 that played 171 yards the second time around The Fairways at Twin Lakes. Given that Bowser had already chipped in for birdie from over the green on that hole the first time around — an unbelievable shot given the severe back-to-front slope of that hole — the team won a Double Skin on that hole with 2+1. Earlier in the day Hollifield + Spaller made double-birdie there, so Bowser + Reifsnyder needed that ace for the Double Skin!
Of course, the ace also stood up for a standard skin. But the pair also won a second Double Skin on the day by making birdie twice at Twin Lake’s hilly and long par-4 fourth hole. All total, the pair won $885 on the day to lead all teams in winnings.
