Gowtham Nalluri from Novi, Michigan earned medalist honors at the 2025 U.S. Amateur Local Qualifier today, shooting 3-under par 68 at Moraine Country Club. Nalluri had five birdies against two bogeys, with consistent front and back nine scores of 34.
The field of 149 players played in two waves of tee times in the morning and afternoon off of both tees. The brutal heat proved to be a challenge at Moraine, which played as a par 71 at 7,051 yards. Only ten players scored below par to secure their spots in the next stage of U.S. Amateur Championship qualifying.
The qualifying cut line finished at even par 71. A 6-for-5 playoff for the final qualifying positions and two alternate spots resulted in Evan Johnson, Benjamin Keil, Adam Horn, Justin Sui, and Jack Vojtko advancing.
Brian Thompson took the first alternate spot from the first playoff. Davis Gochenouer captured the second alternate position from a separate 3-for-1 playoff.
The 15 qualifiers from Dayton will head to various Final Qualifying stages in the coming weeks. The 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship proper will be held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco on August 11-17.
