Maxwell Moldovan Earns His Fourth Trip to the U.S. Open

2024 Habitec Toledo Open champion Grant Haefner of Bloomfield Hills MI shot 68-65 on Monday to finish at 7-under par 133 over Springfield Country Club, earning medalist honors by two shots and a securing spot in next week’s U.S. Open Championship at Oakmont Country Club.
Sharing second place at 5-under par were George Duangmanee of Fairfax VA and Uniontown native and former Ohio State Buckeye golfer Maxwell Moldovan. Moldovan will be making his fourth U.S. Open appearance when he steps onto the property at Oakmont.
Moldovan had a roller-coaster morning round, making six birdies against five bogeys in shooting 1-under par 69. But his afternoon round was a focused performance, knowing he needed to get to 5-under par to stay out of a playoff. He turned at a 2-under par for the day, then matched the number required by posting a final nine score of 32.
A four-for-one playoff at 4-under par was won by Zac Blair of Orem UT on the fourth playoff hole over amateur John Peterson of Fort Worth.
