RESULTS: 2025 U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifying – Toledo

Forty-five senior amateurs started the day with hopes of being one of two players to qualify for the 2025 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.

All players were able to make the turn without issue at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton. But not long after the final group made the turn, the weather rolled in.

Northern Ohio Golf Association Tournament Director Sean Croell had to suspend play two separate times on Monday afternoon. The length of the second delay caused a number of players to withdraw without finishing.

Silver Lake’s Jim Durr, who played in the final group of the day, was one of the players in the mix throughout the long day. Durr would par his final seven holes of the day, including a clutch 60-foot lag on 18 to claim medalist honors late Monday afternoon. Durr finished at 1-over par 73.

Tom Laubacher after making par on both playoff holes to claim the second Qualifying spot

Tom Laubacher was able to avoid the rain delays as part of an early 8:10 a.m. group. Laubacher and his playing partner finished their round just minutes before the first horn blew signaling suspension of play, posting a 2-over par 74.

Although their rounds would end about five hours apart, Laubacher would finish in the same fashion as Jim Durr, with seven straight pars. This would be good enough for the Club Walden member to find his way into a playoff with Rob Schustrich and Patrick Rollins for the final qualifying spot.

Laubacher made par at both playoff holes, the 17th and 18th, to earn a spot in the U.S. Senior Amateur field at Oak Hills on August 23-28.
