It was a close battle amongst participants in this week’s OHIO.GOLF PGA TOUR Arnold Palmer Invitational Fantasy Event. There was a two-way tie for first place with a team score of 39 under par, and all three contestants paid out this weekend were first-time winners on the year.
Akshay Bhatia had a late round rally Sunday, where he birdied his first four holes on the back nine. After a final round score of 69, Bhatia headed to a playoff against opponent Daniel Berger. Bhatia continued his charge, winning on the first playoff hole with a score of par, with Berger three-putting for bogey.
With this win, Akshay secured his third PGA Tour title, all coming in playoff victories.
Ty Kovach and Matt Mullen led the way this week, and both were awarded $124 for their winning selections. Mullen was able to put a winning team together without the tournament winner, Akshay Bhatia.
Kovach’s team included Akshay Bhatia (-15), Ludvig Aberg (-12), Sahith Theegala (-10), and Scottie Scheffler (-2).
Mullen’s team included Daniel Berger (-15), Cameron Young (-12), Min Woo Lee (-10), and Nicolai Hojgaard (-2).
In third place this week was Kevin McMullen with a team score of 35 under par. His team consisted of Akshay Bhatia (-15), Ludvig Aberg (-12), Adam Scott (-6), and Scottie Scheffler (-2). He was awarded $62 for his selections.
Next up on the OHIO.GOLF PGA Tour Fantasy Series schedule is THE PLAYERS Championship, starting this week Thursday through Sunday, March 12th – 15th at TPC Sawgrass.
The PGA Tours flagship event at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida is one of the most anticipated tournaments on the calendar. This year will bring 123 of the strongest players together, with 14 golfers playing in the tournament for the first time. These golfers will all compete for one of the largest purses on the PGA Tour, $25 million. The winner will receive a whopping $4.5 million and 750 FedExCup points.
Rory McIlroy won his second PLAYERS Championship title last year, after defeating J.J. Spaun in a 3-hole playoff. McIlroy looks to bounce back this week after withdrawing from the Arnold Palmer Invitational due to a back injury.
