RIP Arnie

Arnold Palmer, Cleveland Open

Golf legend Arnold Palmer had many connections to Greater Cleveland.

As a young man, he was stationed in Cleveland as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard.

While here, he won the Northeast Ohio Amateur in 1953 and two Ohio Amateur Championships in 1953 – 1954.

Above is a newspaper photo of him winning the 1963 Cleveland Open.

Rest in peace, Mr. Palmer.
