Massillon’s Richie Schembechler shot 5-under par over the course of two rounds yesterday in the Columbus Sectional Qualifier, then survived a six players for five spots playoff this morning to earn a spot at Oakmont Country Club for the U.S. Open June 16-19.
This Sectional featured a huge number of PGA Tour and web.com Tour players, so it’s quite an accomplishment. Congratulations Richie!
Also playing well but with a bit of a heartbreaking result was Blake Sattler of New Philadelphia, who came up just one shot shy of that playoff. Sattler finished at 4-under par for the 36 holes.
