Canton native Suzi Spotleson, who now lives in Scottsdale AZ, had yet another solid performance in a USGA Championship, playing this week in the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship in Virginia.
Shooting 74-77=151 in stroke play qualifying at The Omni Homestead Resort’s Cascades Course in Hot Springs, Spotleson finished in a tie for 10th place and earned the 11th seed in match play.
In the Round of 64, Spotleson won by a commanding 5&4 over Leigh Klasse of Surprise, AZ.
Then in the Round of 32, Spotleson squeezed past Adrienne MacLean from Tequesta, FL 1-up.
In the Round of 16, Spotleson went back to dominating the competition, routing Kim Shek of Bellevue, WA by 6&4.
Spotleson’s run ended in the Quarterfinals on Wednesday, as she wasn’t on her game and Sarah Gallagher of Canton, GA bested her 6&5.
