Long-time Plain Dealer golf writer Tim Rogers is joining Northeast Ohio Golf in 2016 as a Contributing Editor.
Rogers will help NEOHgolf.com expand into regional coverage of high school and college golf, as those players, teams and tournaments are the key to the future of the game locally.
Tim will also offer readers a fresh perspective through feature stories and opinion pieces on the players and personalities of golf in greater Cleveland.
Even though Rogers officially retired in August 2013 after four decades at the Cleveland Press and Plain Dealer, he has remained active as a freelance contributor to the Akron Beacon Journal, Canton Repository, Associated Press and the JJHuddle web site. He also has done work for the Boston Herald, the Miami Herald, and other nationally-known papers.
Rogers covered golf at its highest level for the PD, including work at the United States Open, the PGA Championship, the last 15 Bridgestone Invitationals at Firestone Country Club, and several Memorial Tournaments at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
He has also covered major league baseball, the NBA playoffs, and approximately 75 high school state championships.
He has won numerous writing awards throughout his career, including the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association Writer of the Year and the Ohio Sports Writer of the Year by the National Football Foundation. Rogers was inducted into the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Hall of Fame in March 2014 during ceremonies in Value City Arena.
Tim, welcome — or rather, welcome back — to Northeast Ohio Golf!
