For the third consecutive year, the Northern Ohio Professional Golfers Association Foundation will stage a celebration for a group of our sometimes-forgotten heroes.
PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is a national program that introduces golf to our veterans to help enhance their physical, mental, and social well-being.
The PGA HOPE Cup will take place for the fourth consecutive year on Wednesday at the Signature of Solon.
The event is conducted by the NOPGA Foundation and features approximately 70 of our veterans. The day is the culmination of a six-week program in which the NOPGA Professionals, trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency, worked with the veterans at their respective facilities.
The day is designed to celebrate the Northern Ohio veterans – PGA HOPE graduates – who have participated in the program.
Over 15 teams, consisting of five players and captained by a NOPGA professional, will play a 9-hole scramble.
Veteran suicide is a major issue in America as statistics substantiate that at approximately 22 veterans a day take their own lives. PGA HOPE is working to change that.
The program is funded by PGA REACH – the charitable entity of the PGA of America – and supplemented by the NOPGA Foundation headed by Executive Director David Griffith, which means it is free to all participants.
